Friends of Lawnswood was set up to create opportunities for parents and carers to become more involved with the school, to get to know each other and play a role in supporting it. We try to help the school liaise and consult effectively with home and do our bit to help promote a positive image of the school within the wider community. Friends of Lawnswood is open to all members of the school and the wider community.

Supporting School Events
We support school events such as concerts and open days and organise an annual Friends of Lawnswood social. Help always needed!

Community Choir
Open to parents, pupils, teachers and members of the wider community, the Friends of Lawnswood Community Choir rehearses on Thursdays during term time, 7 – 9pm at school. Under the expert tuition of choir leader Tricia Kyte, we sing a range of world music, pop, folk and more. New members welcome. Re-starts Thursday September 9th 2010

Badminton Club
The Friends of Lawnswood badminton club runs every Monday and Wednesday in term time from 7 – 9pm in the sports hall. Parents, children and members of the wider community are welcome to join. Children must be accompanied. Re-starts w/b September 13th 2010

Art and Design Group
Working with teachers from the art and design faculty, we organise an annual exhibition of pupils’ art and design work. This year it will run from 21st – 23rd September 2010. Helpers needed.

Words at Lawnswood
Working with the school English department, we have helped to run a school book prize and a writing competition. We are currently looking at helping to set up a school newspaper. Contact Lynn if you would like to get involved and develop new ideas.
